OBITUARY.
THE REV. EDWARD WRIGHT. News has been received of the death in the United States of the Rev. Edward Wright, at one time a well-known officer of the Salvation Army in Auckland. Death was due to pneumonia. As a member of the Salvation Army, Mr. Wright worked for manv Years in various centres of the North Island, Queensland and Japan. He also held important positions in England. He subsequently entered the Presbyterian ministry and for the last 16 years had been engaged in church work in the United States. Mr. Wright married the soebnd daughter of the late Mr. John Brame. of Auckland. He is survived by his wife, a son, the Rev. E. V. Wright, of Wesimont, New Jersey, and a daughter, Mrs. Saycrs, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. MRS. MARTHA PATTERSON. The death has occurred at her residence, Brentwood Avenue, Mount Eden, of Mrs. Martha Patterson, who was born in the district 81 years ago. Mrs. Patterson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Mears, who owned a largo property in Mount Eden in the vicinity of what is now Abbott's Road, Mrs. Mears having arrived in Auckland in March, 1840, after a passage from England to Kororareka in tho ship Delhi. Mrs. Patterson was married 60 years ago to Mr. W. A. Patterson, who was organist for some time in St. David's Presbyterian Church, then situated in Symonds Stroet. He died 34 years ago. Except for a visit to Melbourne in her youth, Mrs. Patterson had always resided in Auckland. She hud a remarkably clear recollection of happenings in Auckland during the wars with the' Maoris. There are six children, Mr. W. R. Patterson, of Whangarei, Mr. A. E. Patterson, of Mount Eden, Mrs. B. Wells, of Epsom, Mrs. G. Ohms, of Mount Eden, Mrs. S. W. Hooker, of Mount Albert, and Miss Chariot to Patterson, of Mount Eden, 11 grandchildren and six-great-grandchildren. MR. P. R. LIPSCOMBE. The death has occurred in his 71st year of Mr. Percy Reginald Lipscombe, an old resident of Onehtinga. Hp was born at Tfobart and camo to New Zealand in his father's ship, the Mary Bello, in 1872, and settled in Auckland. In his younger days the late Mr. Lipscombe was a member of the A Battery, .Now Zealand Artillery, and for 15 years was an active member of the volunteer fire brigades of Parnnll and Mount Eden, and was associated later with the Old Boys' Firo Brigade Association. He was keenly interested in sport of all kinds and also in public affairs. He served for eight years on the Onehunga Borough Council and for six years he was a member of the Onehunga school committee. Mr. Lipscombe is survived by his wife, three daughters and seven sons.
