PRISONERS 'AT LARGE.

THREE STOLEN MOTOR-CARS

LAST THEFT AT OTOROHANGA. CLOSE WATCH ON MAIN ROADS. The prisoners, Edgar William Allen and Charles Bennett, who escaped from the Ilautu prison camp, near Tokaanu, on February 21, are still at liberty. They are believed to be travelling north in a stolen motor-car.

The men were last seen at Taupo, on the day of their escape, in a motor-car belonging to Mr. R. E. Cuthbertson, of Turangi. This car was found last Friday abandoned near Okahukura, a few miles from Taumarunui, with (he benzine tank empty. Another car, a "baby" sedan belonging to Mr. William Heayns, was stolen ft®om a garage in Ongarue, several miles north of Okahukura, a few hours later.

On Saturday morning the Hamilton police reported that the "baby" car had been recovered at Otorohanga, and that a third car, belonging to Mr. William Henry Bremner, of Otorohanga, was missing. The police are of the opinion that the escaped prisoners are responsible for the theft of all three cars. Mr. Bremner's car is a black five-seatcr Essex, and bears the registration number 46 046. It is believed to be travelling north, and a keen watch is being kept on all the main roads.
