FARM AND GARDEN.

EFFECT OF DRY WEATHER.

HIGH-CLASS HONEY SHOWN.

Owing to the dry weather, a number of intending exhibitors in the farni= and garden produce section at the show did not have their produce up to exhibition standard and failed to send it forward. Among tho entries exhibited those of principal merit were potatoes and onions, which were of good quality._ The number of fruit entries was disappointing and the quality was only fair. There was only one entry in the majority of the sections.

The entries of honey were very good for an autumn show and the quality was considered to be equal to anything in the world. Entries were received from as far south as Oaroaru, but the majority were from the Auckland Province. The first prize was secured by a lady beekeeper from To Kauwhata. The section honey shown was much above the usual standard. Very few entries of dark honey were received. The exhibitions of farmers' butter were of a good standard. An ingeniously-constructed caravan, used as a trailer to a motor-car, has just been completed by Mr. H. Parker, motorbody builder, of Dtinedin, and he is now engaged in demonstrating this outfit at tho Auckland Show. Of a very attractive appearanco, and apart from its use for motorists, it would make an idewl'weekend bach. It, has four bunks—two on each side—windows, doors, ii safe, receptacles for carrying clothing, a steel-lined box for holding a stove, etc. The caravan is Bft. 6in. long. Bft. 7in. wide, and 6ft. 6in. high. The great advantage of the trailer is that in about five minutes the whole structure can be taken down, folded up and its width reduced to 6ft. When thus handled and ready for trailing, the caravan is not as high as the back window of a motor-car and one can travel in this class of vehicle in comfort at 35 miles an hour. It is truly a home on wheels and motorists and others interested in this class of caravan should not miss the opportunity of, inspect ing it at the Showgrounds today. Similarly tho vehicle can bo reelected in a space of five minutes. It has Ifeen made of beech and specially stamped light, steel and weighs about lOcwt. The cover for caravan when on the road forms a room in camp. The caravan can be constructed at a cost of from £llß to £135.
