SUCCESSFUL DOG SHOW.

BEST FOR MANY YEARS,

LARGE NUMBER OF ENTRIES. HIGH STANDARD OF EXHIBITS. One of the finest exhibitions of dogs seen in New Zealand since the war was held yesterday in conjunction with the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Metropolitan Show. Not only was the dog section the largest ever witnessed at the autuifin fixture, but the entry of Pekingese was a record for New Zealand. A total of 303 dogs was on show. The standard of terriers showed a distinct improvement in type compared with former years and this was most noticeable in the smooth and wire-haired terrier classes. This was held by the judge to be undoubtedly due to the strong influence of recent importations from England. The best wire-haired terrier in the" Show, Mr. W. Jack's Carsol of Coree, was a very fine specimen. An outstanding smooth-haired terrier, which was placed as the best terrier in the Show, was Mr. and Mrs. Naylor's Jason of Queenda. There was a very large entry of* toy dogs. The quality of the Pekingese and Pomeranians was particularly good. There was a very good entry of bulldogs, which included some particularly fine specimens. The Alsatians showed an improvement on former shows. The setters were not quite as good as in previous years, but the greyhounds, although not numerous, provided the best dog in the show. The awards were : ALSATIANS.
