Mrs. M. Van Staveren, of Sharpe Road, Epsom, has returned from a visit to Wanganui.

Mrs. Clement Sellars, of Fendalton, Christchurch, is tho guest of Mrs. Ihil. Muir, Ellerslic.

Mrs. F. C. Simile, of To Awamut.il, is visiting Auckland and is staying at tho Central Ilotcl.

Mrs. P. Higgins, of Manchester, England. is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Central Hotel.

Mrs. J. M. Griffiths, of Ivelburn, Wellington, who lias been visiting Auckland, has left on her return journey.

Mrs. D. G. Ogilvio and Miss Berniee Ogilvie, of Rcmucra, returned this week from an extended visit to the South Island.

A card party was held in tho Taniwha Hall recently, under tho auspices of the Kiwi Croquet Club. Progressive five hundred was played, the successful winners being Mrs. E. Gardiner and Mr. b. Bruce, 1; Mr. arid Mrs. A. B. Carley, 2. Hostesses for tho evening were tho committeo of tho Kiwi Croquet Club, Mesdanios Chambers, Shcrson, Gardiner, Boot, Mcßurney, Muir and Carley.

A farewell social was tendered recently in the Waiotira Hall to Mr. and Mrs. Cameron and their family, who aio leaving tho district, Mr. Cameron having been transferred to Ohakuno as stationmast or. Tho hall was beautifully decorated with greenery and coloured streamers The evening was spent chiefly in dancing, while Mr. Kelly sang two songs. Tho music was supplied by Mrs. Haira s orchestra. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. J. 0 Shea. Mr. A. Stephen, on behalf of tho residents of tho district, presented Mr. and Mrs. Cameron with a box of cutlery. Mr. Cameron briefly replied.

The Women's Progress Club (Inc.) reassembled at the Higher Thought Temple, Wellington Street, for the. purpose of holding tho inaugural meeting of the year. Mrs. Moller, vice-president, was in the chair. Tho president, Mrs. Grace Silcoek, spoke on " lhe Aims and Objects of Our Club" and urged all present to realise the great importance of fitting themselves in order to be ready to undertake tho great responsibilities that were now being forced upon women in every sphere of life. Members from tho branch club at Kohimarama wore given a warm welcome and a solo, " I Shall Not Pass This Way Again," was sung by Mrs. Moller. Tho meeting closed with afternoon tea.

The patients of Ward 32 at the Auckland Hospital were entertained at a concert on Wednesday evening arranged by Mrs. Raeburn and Mr. A. Hamblin. An excellent programme was provided by Mr. W. Smithson, which consisted of solos, duets, a quartette, whistling solos and special items bv the Epiphany Sunshine Band. Thoso faking part were Epiphany Sunshine Band. Miss Is,a Smithson, songs; Miss Eileen Smithson, songs; Mr. Eric Struckert, violin solos; Mr. Reg. Hush, whistling solos; Mr. J. Smithson, songs and humorous; Mr. W. Smithson, songs; items by tho Smithson quartette; little Miss Aldwyn Dunn, songs. Two of the patients also gave items, little Shirley Walters, Ward 32, nnrl Sirs. IT. McCVirmark, Ward 28. Madam Dunn and Miss Taylor wero the accompanists.
