YESTERDAY'S SALES. RETURN ON INVESTMENTS. Following is a list of yesterday's trans actions on New Zealand Stock Exchanges. In the second column is given the return, based on the last annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other redeemable securities the return includes redemption. In calculating the returns on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand exchange rales, being liable to fluctuation, havo not been taken into consideration. The first column gives the figures at which the sales were made:—

On tho Sydney Stock Exchange to-day little movement occurred in Commonwealth bonds, but there was a stronger tone on closing. Sales were: Four per cent, bonds, 1938 issue, £94 10s; 1941, £92 16s 3d; 1944, £92 12s 6d: 1947. £92 8s 9d; 1050, £9l 7s 6d; 1951-57, £9l 7s 6d; 1951-55, £9l 8s 9d; 1951-59, £92 7s 6d; 1951-61, £92 7s 6d. Bank scrip remained steady and the following sales took place :—Bank of New South Wales, £3O; Commercial Bank of Sydney, £l6 ss; Bank of Australasia (New Zealand register for New Zealand delivery), £lO ss. Colonial Sugar declined to £44 and Millaquin sugar to 25s 4Jd.
