THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. STEADY TRADING CONTINUES. Price movements wore nuiinly of narrow extent, in tho investment market, on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday when a steady volume of business was again recorded. Dealing was a lillle easier in gilt-edged. Rates firmed a little for 1937, sper cent. Inscribed Stock, in which dealing took place at £9O 10s, but subsequent business was done at the. previous day's closing prico of £O9 7s 6d. Interest in local body securities was maintained and a furl her transaction was completed in Newmarket Boroughs, 1911, per cents., at tho current, price of .COD 10s. Auckland Harbour Boards, 1943, f>£ per cents., were taken at £O7 10s, equal to .lie level of the last sale in Auckland. which took place in the middle of last year. There was again a slight improvement in inquiry for banks, although offers were not, materially alterod. Commercials of Australia were released again at 11s 1d and New Zealand# were done unchanged at 41s 9d. Holders of Unions weakened slightly, offers 6d lower at £7 2s 6d being met with a concession of 2s to £7 6s 6d. Support for insurance was firm and South British had snlo unaltered at 51s Od. In general investments Colonial Sugars again attracted principal notice. A rise of 5s was registered in business completed late on Tuesday, and yesterday there was another transaction, 2s 6d higher at £39 7s Gd. The market for goldniining scrip underwent minor changes. Consolidated Goldfields were taken 2d firmer at, Is lid. Waihis easer] a penny, but steady levels were maintained for Grand Junctions. Okaritos wero sought, ex div. is lower at 8s 6(1, but no supplies wero available. Mount Lyells were done again at 20s 6d, after which quotations fell 3d.
