PARTY IN EMPTY HOUSE.
OWNER ON HOLIDAY. MAGISTRATE'S STRONG COMMENT [itiom Ol'n OWN- rot;RESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. A party held in the house of Mr. A. B. Matthews at Marama Street, Frankton. during Mr. Matthews' absence on January 6 led to Edward Ifolden Melntyrc, a painter, aged 24, being charged in the Hamilton Police Court to-day with being on the premises without lawful excuse. Accused pleaded guilty.
Senior-Sergeant Sweeney said Mr. Matthews employed Mclntvre to paint his house while he was on holiday. On the night of January 6 accused invited another man and three young women to the house. Sortie wino was procured and 11 ic house was entered by accused, who opened a fanlight and secured the key. Three of the visitors slept in the house. Mclntyrc led the others to believe that the house belonged to his parents. Accused had been before the Court before. He was married, but had posed as a single man. The magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, described the episode as a most disgusting one. Accused was a man of dissolute character. Accused was fined £">. in default 30 .days' imprisonment. No time was allowed for payment.
