LONG WALKING TOUR.

YOUNG WOMAN'S VENTURE. DOMINION-MADE GOODS. SIMILAR EFFORT IN BRITAIN. A venturesome walking tour from Pandora Camp, Spirits Bay, to Bluff, a distance of about 1200 miles, was commenced by Miss Esther James, of Auckland, last month, in the interests of New Zealand-made goods, and yesterday Miss James arrived in Auckland after completing 340 miles of her tour. " When I set out on this walk," Miss James said last evening, " I was eight stone in weight, and after having walked 340 miles, eating only New Zealandgrown food, I now weigh Bst. 91b. ' Every articlo of clothing worn .by Miss James \r?.s made in New Zealand and tho locally-manufactured shoes which she has worn all the way from Spirits Bay to Auckland, have only now shown slight signs of wear in the toes. Her stockings also showed remarkable durability, one pair having lasted her over a distance of 100 miles before a slight hole appeared in the toe, while of "ladders" there was no sign. Most of the roads Miss James found very good, except in the far north, where the sandy roads retarded her progress a little. Miss James arrived at 1.30 yesterday afternoon from Henderson on what was the hottest day she has so far experienced. "This is about a third of my journey completed," sho said, " and I sincerely hope that moro people will patronise tho goods produced by their own country and thus make my journey nofc in vain." Miss James is obtaining first-hand knowledge of how New Zealand's primary product's are produced and she intends next year to walk through England advertising the Dominion's primary produets. She will leave for Hamilton next week in continuation of her journey to Bluff.
