HOSPITAL BOARD LEVY.
THE BURDEN OF RELIEF. PROPOSAL FOR CONFERENCE. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 FUKEKOHE. "Wednesday. The case for the Government assuming greater responsibility for outdoor relief made necessary by unemployment was stressed by Mr. G. T. Parvin, Franklin member of the Auckland Hospital Board, in giving an outline of the board's activities to the Franklin County Council to-day. He said that unless more liberal Government assistance was forthcoming to meet the great need that liad arisen, the board would have no alternative but to increase substantially its lovy on the ratepayers next year. The council decided to ask the board to call a conference of all the local bodies in the board's district to consider the position and make representations to the Government.
