WATERSIDE HOLIDAY.
Si,. ( _On Wednesday the Waterside Workers Union hold their annual picnic, resulting in six overseas and one large coastal vessel remaining in forced idleness at the wharves. Hundreds of men under privilege of an indulgent award ceased work and for the whole day the port was idle because waterside ship work is the monopoly of the picnickers. These men are actually entitled to have their work held for them until the following day. In view of the fact that many thousands of men, including skilled watersiders, aro of necessity accepting relief for mere existence during this present economic crisis, does not tho foregoing make clear the necessity for a complete overhaul of awards ?
