MARKSMEN AT WANGANUI.
NORTH ISLAND MEETING. C. J. NIX WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. [BT TELBGRAFH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, Tuesday. The North Island championship rifle shooting meeting was concluded on the Putiki range to-day. There was a steady cross-wind, but conditions were good. C. J. Nix (Featherston Club) won the North Island championship with a score of 333. H. W. Feast (Greytowu) was second with 331, closely followed by F. NMcVicar (Waipukurau) with a score of 330. For the qualifying aggregate Nix and Feast had scores of 286, McVicar having 282. H. Simmonds (Auckland City) returned a score of 283, but was displaced when he scored 46 in the final shoot to McVicar's 48. McVicar thus rose to third place. Eceptional shooting was seen in the teams' match, won by Petone No. 1 team, the members of which were W. McVicar, 0. Donnell, R. H. Nicholl, J. C. Carter and E. A. Ballinger. The possible for each man was 105 and Petone No. 1 rose from the mound with an average of 97.6. In the Manawatu match, at 500 yds., two tyros, J. Sim (Okawa) and R. Stuart (Cheltenham) put on the possible, while R. Rook (New Plymouth), another tyro, was only one point behind to fill third place. H. C. Percy (Alfredton) won the tyro aggregate with a score of 275. C. J. Nix, winner of the championship, won the Marybank aggregate.
