Vincent last evening:— The westerly depression has rapidly crossed the Dominion, but a secondary disturbance is developing westward of New Zealand. Expect temporarily fair weather, followed by a renewal of squally and unsettled conditions, with additional rain following in most districts, heavy in western areas. Hail and thunder probable in places near the west coast, and some snow likely on the extreme southern highlands. Westerly to north-westerly winds, moderate to strong, increasing strong to gale iat times. Rough seas on the west coast. Local outlook: Squally and showery. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A complicated depression has been covering New Zealand to-day, centres having been located on both sides of both islands.
