SOUTH AFRICAN ELEVEN. LOCAL SIDE OUT. FOR 202. (Received November 22, 5.5 p.m.) BRISBANE. Nov. 22. The cricket match South Africa v. Queensland was commenced at Brisbane yesterday in fine weather and on a perfect wicket. There was a good attendance, which increased in the afternoon. Queensland won the toss and batted. They were all out for 202 and South Africa lost two wickets for 38. Cook, who made his first appearance for the State, played a great innings. His partnership with Hurwood, who was selected for his bowling, yielded 68 runs. Rurwood's 89 is the highest individual score by a Queenslander against the South ■ Africans, the previous best having been Jennings', who made 67 over 20 years ago. Van der Merwe's wicket-keeping was a featuie, his quickness winning him frequent applause. Vincent bowled effectively throughout. Local supporters were delighted when early in the visitors' innings Thurlow, a fast bowler, had Mitchell caught behind the wicket. Thurlow followed up this success by bowling Dalton. Gilbert, the aboriginal bowler who recently caused a sensation by capturing Bradman's wicket, was not effective yesterday.
