LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
MOUNT ALBERT. The Mount Albert branch of the League ot Mothers held the final meeting for this year on Thursday afternoon. Visitors were present from the Dovonport, Ponsonbv, Dominion Road and Sandringham branches. Mrs. Turner, senior president, presided. A very enjoyable musical and elocutionary progiamme was given by the following ladies: —bongs, Mcsdames Blomfield, Dee, Moir, and Owen; and elocutionary items by Miss Vera, Kirk up. On behalf of the committee, Mrs. Turner presented the social convener, Mrs. F. Mcßrido, with a small token in appreciation of her services, and ilrs. Appleby, the oldest member of the branch, with a beautiful posy of roses and sweet peas. Later in the afternoon another presentation was made, Mrs. Batkm handing to Mrs. Turner, sen., two books from the .mothers in appreciation of her many deeds of kindness, and of her very sincere and active interest in the leagun. She also presented to Mrs. Turner a bouquet of red roses with very best birthday wishes. Afternoon tea was served by the committee, with Mrs. Deacon as convener, and a very pleasant time was spent in social intercourse and in admiring the many souvenirs brought by the mothers. "Aulcl Lang Sync" was sung, and a happy and most, successful afternoon marked the closing of the 1931 activities of the branch.
HENDERSON. The Henderson branch of the League of Mothers held its meeting at the residence of Mrs. Vernon Ashton, Edmonton Road. It took the form of a social afternoon. About 30 members and friends were present, including Mrs. A. M. .Ferguson, provincial president, arid Mrs. Whyte, provincial secretary. Mrs. Walsh presided, and Mrs. Whyte gave a talk on Christmas and the Birth of Christ. Mrs. Warburton, of Kohimarama, sang "Just For To-day," and as an encore "Hitch Your Waggon to a Star." Mrs. Osborne sang "All Through the Night" and "Sally Honey," and Mrs. Ashton "Open the Gates of the Temple," the accompaniments being played by Miss Lilian Hart. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs.. Ashton arid Mrs. Holborow..
