MAKO SHARK CAUGHT.
FISH WEIGHING 455L8. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] RUSSELL. Saturday. While drifting in one of the launches belonging to the whaler Hananui 11. looking for whales, on Thursday, Mr. H Neville Cook, of Russell, sighted a mako shark and promptly brought his-rod into operation. He was lucky enough quickly to get a strike, and played the fish for about 50 minutes, during which time it broached about five times. On being weighed at Deepwater Cove it turned the scales at 4551b. A further mako is reported to have been seen yesterday, but it was not fished for.
