WOMAN CASHIER ROBBED.
BAG SNATCHED IN STREET. THIEF ESCAPES AFTER CHASE. [BY telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON, Saturday. A leather brief hag containing about £74 was snatched from a woman cashier employed by Messrs. McLean and Archibald, ironmongers, when she was walking along Victoria Street at 11.25 this morning. There were several witnesses of the affair and one chased the thief through the Empire Hotel and up Willis Street: He dashed through Chews Lane and escaped by getting into Mercer Street and boarding »a moving tramcar. The police have been unable to trace the thief.
