SHEEP FOR AUSTRALIA.
SHIPMENTS FROM DOMINION. New Zealand-bred stud sheep appear to be very popular with Australian sheepowners, and a number' of small shipments have left New Zealand since August. A large shipment of 269 stud sheep, mostly Southdowns, is aboard the Wainui, which left for Melbourne, via Bluff, last week. Messrs. Burrell and Sons, of Feilding, have on board 47 stud Southdown ewes and one ram for purchasers in Western Australia. The remainder of the shipment.is from Canterbury, the destination being as follows -.—Melbourne, J9Q Southdown, ewes, 10 Ryeland ewes; for Melbourne sales, 30 Ryeland rams, 39 Southdown rams, 10 Southdown ewes; Perth, 40 Southdown ewes, 2 Southdown rams. But for the increased duties and exchange, which add 100 per cent, to the original cost, record numbers of New Zealand-bred §lieep would be crossing the Tasman this season.
