STOCKS AND SHARES.
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. BUSY PERIOD CONTINUES. Trading was again fairly brisk at tho single call on the Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday morning. Principal interest in gilt-edged was in 1937 5g per cent, bonds and stock, which were sought slightly easier. Unchanged rates were realised for 1933 5| bonds at £97 10s. The only movement in local body debentures was a transaction in Auckland Citys 1940 per cents, at the unaltered price of £96. Quotations were little changed in banks. Commercials of Australia lost ground again in dealing at 16s, a fall of 3d. The contributing issue of Nationals of Australasia was marked down 5s in a sale at £5. New Zoalands changed hands at the steady level of 495, at which price more were available. Other sections were quietly steady. A further decline was registered in offers for New Zealand Breweries, which were inquired for at 26s 9d, compared with 28s 6d on Friday. Sellers held firmly at 30s. Robinson Ice Creams changed hands late on Friday at 17s. Similar late business in Wilsons Cements was recorded Is 3d higher at 36s 6d. Mining investments were quiet, with levels practically unaltered. CLOSING QUOTATIONS.
QUOTATIONS FOR WHEAT. MARKET AT CHICAGO. (Received November 22. 5.5 p.m.) ' CHICAGO, Nov. 21. Wheat futures were quoted as follows to-day, quotations yesterday being in parentheses: —December, 57g cents (56 7-8 cents) per bushel; March, 59J (59); May, 613-8 (61); July, 61£ (61). POOL IN MANITOBA. (Received November 22, 5.5 p.m.) WINNIPEG, Nov. 21. The Premier of Manitoba, Mr. J. Brachen, states that tho province's loss in aiding tho provincial wheat pool through guarantees to the banks for pool advances will be over £200,000. Ihe liability of the Government to the pool lending banks is more than £600,000, but about £400,000 is covered by the assets of the pool.
