At ono stage during the third round of tlio triangular course, Winifred, sailed by I. McGralh, secured a load of nearly lifilf a minute over ('. Pettilt, skipper of Squib, bul L 11« latter made ful[ use of the light, southerly wind and gained the second win of the trials by about five seconds. Tim other contestants were Joan, Mavis and Heather, who were completely out of the race after the first round of thr> course. -
CANTERBURY CONTEST. UiENE BEATS COLLEEN. [in - TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] CItRISTOHUHCH, Sunday. In tho second Sanders Cup trial sailed in a southerly gale Irene beat Colleen by 12 minutes 40 seconds. Usher, the other competitor, gave up. George Brassell, who sailed the winning boat, Colleen, last week, was in charge of the Irene on this occasion. Tho Cornwcll Cup trials had just started when a storm came up. One boat ran for shelter, another was blown ashore and a third was capsized.
