DETONATOR EXPLODES.

BOY'S SERIOUS INJURIES. LOSS OF ONE EYE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. The danger to children playing with detonators was again emphasised on Wednesday, when David Pieard, aged nine, eon of Mr. G. Pieard, of Opunake, was gravely injured by an explosion. The boy's hands were both badly shattered, one eye was destroyed, and other injuries of a serious nature were received.

The boy, who bore his injuries with great fortitude, was taken to the New Plymouth Hospital, where he is progressing as well as can be expected.
