INTERIOR DECORATION.
A MODERN PROFESSION. "Beautiful Homes," with hints on interior decoration was the subject of an interesting address by Mrs. Iveith Ban-som-Kehler, of America, who is making a lecturing tour of New Zealand, at a meeting of the Women s Progress Cluh in the Auckland Higher Thought Temple yesterday afternoon. After dealing briefly with the Mid-Vic-torian period of furnishing, which she described as confusion, disorder and bad taste, the lecturer spoke of modern interior decorating, which had now developed in America as a very serious profession. Floors, walls and draperies were tho features of inferior decoration discussed by tho speaker. She urged the necessity for a much more generous display of colours in tho homo ind rcfeiiod to hand-blocked linen in brilliant tonings as a favourito material for draperies in .America. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to the speaker at the. conclusion of her address by Mrs. G. fcileocks, on behalf of the members.
