STATUE FOR GALLERY.
LOCAL SCULPTOR'S WORK. HALF-LENGTH OF A GIRL. The statuary collection in the City .Art Gallery has been enriched by the addition of a beautiful and distinctive half-length figure of a girl in bronze by 'Mr. W. H. Wright. A.R.C.A.. instructor in modelling at 1 lie- Elam School of Art. The figure, then in plaster, was exhibited by Mr. Wright in the gallery last December, with two other examples of his work, and earned warm praise from visitors for its beauty and the personality with which it was endowed. Subsequently the Library Committee of the City Council commissioned Mr. Wright to have it cast in bronze. That has been done and the figure was placed in the gallery this week. It is named "Molly" and represents a tired dancer with downcast eyes. The right arm and hand, which fingers a necklace, are charmingly modelled.
A portrait head, "Louise." by Mr. Wright, was acquired for the gallery some time ago.
