CHILDREN'S CAMPS.
CHARITY STAMPS APPEAL. NEED OF PUBLIC SUPPORT. An appeal to the public to purchase charity stamps to raise funds for the establishment of permanent health camps for children is being made throughout the Dominion. Formerly the Government granted a capitation allowance of 5s a child a week, but in the interests of economy this is to be discontinued and reliance will have to be placed on the money derived from the sale of the stamps. The stamps bear the words "Postage 2d, Charity Id," or "Postage Id, Charity Id, according to the de nomination. The revenue from the snle of the charily stamps is to be divided among the summer camp associations throughnut New Zealand. 'lhe funds available are not yet .sullicient to cover the cost buildings and maintaining permanent ramps. All help at these camps is voluntary. This year there will be 80 boys [it Motuihi Island from December 23 to January 12, and 80 girls from January 12 to January 30. At Waiheke (Ostend) 25 boys will lie in camp during the, first period, and 25 girls until January 30. The 1031 figures for camps at Wanganui, Motuihi Ivslatid and Waiheke are 128, 78 ind 56 children respectively. With public issistaiico through the sale of charity vtarnps it, will be possible for the Community Sunshine Association and other similar organisations throughout New Zeaaml to cany on thou- splendid work.
