GALLOPS AT TE RAPA.
FLYING PRINCE'S PROSPECTS. KING FORD IMPROVING. GOOD EFFORT BY CRUACHAN. [rnrur orti own conREProNDENT. | HAMILTON, Thursday. Some interesting work was done in the final gallop* st. Te Rapa this morning, when the p'ough track wns in good order. Kins Ford Bliuninagh, Baroscope, Flying Prince, and Crunchnn were- among those to increase their admirers by their efforts. Welcome Ln (Stokes) ran three furlongs in 1)7 l-fjSi The half-sister to Tradesman is to have her firet, fitart with the two-year-olds on Saturday, and should be handy. The Trial Stakes candidate Illmninagli went surprisingly well to run five furlongs in 1 .'I ,'!-5. }le had his trainer, L. Everson, in the saddle, so was carrying a lot over his weight for the opening race on Saturday. Flying Prince (Stokes) had Hit the Deck (Bentley) as his partner. The Cup horse was well clear at the post, running the seven furlongs in 1.31 1-5. If he fails on Saturday it will not be for lack of condition . First Lap (Stokes) and Creina's King (Brady) registered 1.32 for seven furlongs. The former is never a. good track worker but she sticks on in her races. The three-yen r-olu Persham (Bentley) placed five furlongs behind in 1.2. 2-5. As he had a race at Cambridge he should be ready to show, up at. any tune, Te Taone (Stokes) repeated his good form of Tuesday by running half a mils to-day in 50s without being pressed. If he would do it in his races Te Taonc would soon give a, return. L'Allegro worked freely, but not fast, over a round. The chestnut looks well and should see out his inile engagement on Saturday with, the best. Holly Holm (Mclnally) and the stable two-year-old Lady Whirlwind (Stokes) ran half a mile on the course proper with the trestles out a good distance in s'-2js. Holly Holm is very solid, but the filly has failed to come to her best so far, although she has had a, few races. If looks as if she will require further time. Prince of Orange (L. Dulieu) and Yalmarie (Stokes) ran their five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. The former has not shown much ! form this eeason. Yalmarie is improving [ steadily. Faganelli (Mclnally) strode out freely to | run six furlongs in 1.21 J. When he came back to the stall his off foreleg was cut. evidently the result of the horao etrikuig himself on his way out to gallop. Illuminclli, carrying over 9.0, ran away from Trowbridge, who wns also carrying a good weight, over five furlongs, the time being I.G. The Cambridge Handicap candidate King Ford (Stokes > put a. lot of dash into his five-furlong effort, recording 1.1 3-5. It, will not be long before the sprinter is back to his best. Cruachnn, with his Cup rider, H. Stokes, in the saddle, was worked over about a i mile and a half. He was anxious to increase the pace, being timed to cover the final four furlongs when the speed was on, in 51 2-os. j A moist track would suit Crnachan, but the chestnut, should be in the picture under any conditions on Saturday. Baroscope 'Bentley) gave Princess Bede (McLaughlin) a etart. but sho was not a serious rival at the close of the five furlongs. which Baroscope ran in 1.2 3-5. The Weathervane colt is now more racy in appearance and tho long straight will bo to his favour on Saturday. Prince of Orange will be ridden by L. Dulieu on Saturday; .7. Cammick will pilot Lady Whirlwind, while, if Yalmarie starts, H. Stokes will be her rider. Cargen's pilot iu the hurdles will be J. Mcßae.
