NOTES ON THE FORM.
CUP WI IN NER' S FINISH. SATIN KING'S TWO WINS. SUCCESS OF BELLE AXWORTHY. [ISY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. King s Guard seemed to be unlucky on the first day of the Addington meeting, but his running in the Whiteleigh Handicap to-dav suggests that he becomes fired at the end of a mile and a-quarter. He had every chance, but broke in the straight. Nelson's Boy. carefully driven, came with a dash at the finish to win well in fast time. He paid double figures. Stand By was backed and beaten. Ambition may prove the best to follow. The Derby start was spoiled by the vagaries of Geld Paper, who eventually got away well and tried to win nil the way. Silver de Oro. the best mannered of ths party, broke soon after the start and lost a lot of ground. Gold Paper failed when tackled by Ciro in the. straight and j Tempest, came along to beat her. Ciro ap- | pears a useful sort, but next, time they meet j Silver de Oro may finish in front. Temj pest is a good sort and likely to develop. ; The cup final was a disappointing race. Kingcraft soon raced to the. front and promptly slowed the field down to run the first, mil© in 2.15 4-5. The field at this stage was running in single file. Kingcraft leading from L''r6e Advice, Lindbergh and Harold Logan, with Wrackler last. In the last, mile tho «peed was turned on to some purpose and with 3j furlongs to go Harold Logan was nearer last than first. He commenced a great run three furlongs from home and held out to scoro a very popular win. In this race Humphreys, the driver of (lie winner, adopted different tactics from those on the first day and Harold Logan put up a great performance. The last milo was run in 2.2: 2-5 and the last half-mile in just over a minute. Wrackler was never dangerous and Logan Park tailed the field throughout. Satin King won the C'ourtenay Handicap decisively and made good horses look like third raters. The number included C'armel, Glenrossie and Regal Voyage. Regal Voyage set off in a hopeless chase after the leader and Glenrossie made up a lot of ground over the last half-mile. Belinda failed badly. Belle Axworthy proved herself too good for the good field in the Metropolitan Handicap and the Auckland pacer proved herself a true racehorse. Olive Nelson again made an exhibition of the Soekburn Handicap field and it is plain that, she has developed into one of the best trotters in the Dominion. She was quickly in a good position and only the I limit horses Boneta. and Mountain Mist ever S had a chance with her. Of the unplaced division Gemlight showed the most- promise. Satin King again showed his brilliance when he won the Sprinters' Handicap from Delightful and Red Shadow, for he came with a burst that made the others look second-rate. Delightful finished on well and may soon be on the winning list. TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. ADDINGTON MEETING ENDS. i FREE-FOR-ALL CONTEST. FIELD OF ELEVEN ENGAGED.
