SOLOMON ISLAND MISSION.
WORKERS WELCOMED. Dr. and Mrs. L. James and Sister Muriel Stewart, who have recently re turned to New Zealand from the Metl'O. dist Mission station in tfje Solomon Islands, were tendered a welcome in the Pacific Club rooms yesterday afternoon by members of the Methodist Board of Mis sions. The president of the conference, the Rev. E. D. Patchett, officially welcomed the visitoi-s. Others who spoke were Miss J. Buttle, representing the Women's Missionary Union, the Rev. W. A. Sin clair, general secretary of foreign mis sions, and Mr. J. W. Shackelford, rt-pie senting the laymen of Auckland. In his reply, Dr. James spoke of tli>great work that was being accomplished in bringing about better standards of cleanliness and health among the natives and in checking the ravages of the deadly tropical diseases. fie mentioned that during the three years he was at the islands ho had performed over 500 operations. Sister Stewart also replied briefly.
