THE MESSAGE OF THE LOCUST.
Sir,—The first, cheery noise of the locust to bo heard in my garden this summer burst forth at- one minute past eleven on Armistice Day during the two minutes' silence, making 'me feel that, while millions of hearts felt sad, one little heart was so happy that_ it felt nothing near it but the beautiful sunshine, and the owner of it just went on its natural way. I stood in my garden listening to (the band in the Domain, waiting to hear the "Last Post'' sounded, but the little touch of nature won, and instead of the "Last Post" I heard the "first locust," so small an object and yet, so great, that it played the only notes within hearing, which, although harsh to the ear, seemed to send forth the sweet message that "God's in His Heaven, all's right with .th _> world."
