LAWN TENNIS.
PROGRESS AT UNIVERSITY. Satisfactory progress was disclosed by tlie report and balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the University Lawn Tennis Club. Trophies for the past season were presented as follows: —Men's championship singles, J. N. "\\ ilson ; ladies', Miss L. Poberton; men's championship doubles, J. N. Wilson and R. B. Hardy; ladies'. Misses L. Roberton and R. Taylor; combined championship doubles, Miss Jj. Hoberton and T\. B. Hardy: ladies' freshers singles. Miss G. G. Gardner; men's, B. G. Thomson. The follow ins officers were elected:— President, Professor Grossman; club captain. Mr .T N. Wilson: secretary and treasurer, Mr. ,T. P. Glenie: committee. Misses L. Ttoberton. K. J. Wakelin. Messrs. E. D. Robins. K. C. East and I. Moir. A vole of thanks was passed to the retiring club captain, Mr. K- B. Hardy, who did not seek re-election. KITCHENER PARK CLUB. There was a most enthusiastic gathering of members and their friends at the annual meeting of the Kitchener Park Jennis Club, held 'at the Picturedrome, Milford. The, president of Ihe club. Mr. L. J. Minogue, was in the cliair. The report showed that the past, season had been a complete success and the prospects of another successful season were good. The finances of the, club were sound. 'I he erection of a 11CW pavilion had proved a great acquisition to the club during the past season. A high standard of play had been maintained, owing to the splendid condition in which the courts were kepf. During the year the club had affiliated to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association and a successful debut had been made in inter-club matches. Trophies were presented by the president to Miss M. Christ ensen. winner of the ladies' singles handicap, to Mrs. O. Haines (runner-up), and to Mr. F. C. Whitbred, winner of the men's singles handicap. _ The committee placed on record its appreciation of the help extended by the borough councils, as much work had been cs rried out under the relief schemes for improvement to the park. A successful season was disclosed in the •miual ieport of the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club, which was presented at the annual meeting by the president. Mr. R. D. McEurlaiul. It was sliown from the statement of accounts that the financial position had Considerably improved. It is proposed to open the courts for play on October 17 and to hold the official opening on October 31. The following officers were elected: — President. Mr. W. G. Fabling; vice-presi-dents. Dr. H.
