DEATH OF SEAMAN.

FIVE MONTHS IN HOSPITAL

Another victim of the wreck of the steamer Progress at Ohiro Bay, near Wellington, in May last, Mr. John Metcalf. married, a seaman, 43 years of age, died this morning. The Progress was wrecked on May 1 on a rocky promontory off Ohiro Bay. Deceased was one of the crew who came ashore in a very exhausted and battered condition, having been smashed on the rocks by huge breakers. He was taken to the Wellington Hospital, where he had been a patient ever since. He had been married twice and is survived by a widow.
