FANCY MASKED DANCE.

FUNCTION AT NORTHCOTE.

The plain and fancy-dress masked dance, held in the Palais Theatre, Northcote, on Thursday evening, in aid of the funds of the Northcote Primary School, was largely attended and was a pronounced success. The costumes were varied and of considerable merit, and were greatly commended by the judge, Mrs. J. Zahara, whose awards were: Best lady's costume: Miss E. Sharp (" Rio Rita"), 1; Miss Marjorie Brown (" Winter "), 2. Most original lady's costume; Miss E. Pearce (sailor and his bride), 1. Best couple s costumes: Mr. and Mrs. A. Hurley (black and white pierrot and pierrette), 1. Best gentleman's costume: Mr. C. Elsby (Mexican) 1. Most original costume: Mr. A. E. Harding ("Mrs. Wiggs the Cabbage Patch '), 1; Mr. R. A. Clark (elephant), 2. The music was provided by the Merrymakers' Orchestra. The function was organised bv a ladies' committee, comprising Mrs. E. G. Bailey (president), Mrs. A. Taylor, Mrs. H. Shaw, Mrs. C. J. W. Taylor, Mrs. J. Barrott, Mrs. T. G. Fielder, Mrs. J. Blake, Mrs. S. C. Arblaster. Mrs. X. Davidson, Mrs. C. G. Isbister, Mrs. F. W. Wilkes, Mrs. J. Fawcett, Mrs. Haines, Miss Mahoney, Miss R. Wood and Miss Benge.
