Mrs. W. Leather, of Auckland, is visiting Christchurch.
Mrs. A. Macredie, of Auckland, is pay ing a visit to Christchurch.
Miss Colhoun, of Devonport, will leave on Monday on a health trip to Rotorua.
Mrs. S. F. Burgess returned to New Plymouth this week from a visit to Auckland.
Mrs. R. T. Reid, of Hamilton, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Hotel Cargen. .
Mrs. Raymond She,ath, of Orakei Road, Remuera, is motoring with her two sons to Okoroire for the week-end.
Mr and Mrs. H. H. Howden, of Hamilton, left Auckland by the Maunganui for a visit to Australia and Java.
Mrs. J. Haggitt, of Dunedin, has re turned to Auckland from a visit to Rus sell and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mrs. L. T. Rapson, of Gillies Avenue, Epsom, is visiting Gonville, Wanganui, where she is the guest of Mrs. V. C. Rapson.
Miss Isabel Etheridge Martin left by the Maunganui yesterday, en route for India, where she intends making a prolonged stay at Srinagar, Kashmir.
Mrs. Grace presided at the monthly meeting of the Taneatua Women s Division of the Farmers' Union. After business had been dealt with competitions, including a wool-knitting competition, were held, some beautiful articles being shown. Mrs. Ducker and Mrs. W. Thorn tied for first place. Some flower plants met a ready sale, and afternoon tea was served bv Mesdames Adams, W. Thorn and E. dill.
A most successful bazaar was recently held in the Hall, Portland, in aid of the Methodist Church. It was organised bv the iadies of the Portland and Otaika Methodist congregations, and the opening ceremony was performed by Mr. 1?. W. Reed, of YVhangarei. The five stalls were artistically decorated, and heavily laden with gifts generously donated by members and friends of the Church at Portland and Otaika, also Whangarei. The following were in charge of the respective stalls:—Cake and produce, Mesdames T. H. Wilson and H. Poole; needlework; Mesdames Williams and Cain, and Misses B and M. Kerr and M. Evans; sweets, Misses B. Wilson and M. Williams; children's dip and -fish pond, Misses Brewis, Coombridge, and Peacock; afternoon tea, Mesdames Brewis. Coombridge, and Miss B. Wilson; competitions, Messrs. Coombridge and Cain. During the evening musical items were rendered by Misses Kellv and Sommerville, Rev. F,. Sage, and Mr A. Symonds. On behalf of the Methodist Church, the Rev. R. Coombridge expressed thanks and appreciation for the whole-hearted support given to the function. As a result of the bazaar the funds of the Church will benefit to the extent of over £2O.
