WELFARE LEAGUE.
NORTHCOTE CARD PARTY.
A vorv surcessful bridge afternoon, organised by the committee of the Northcote Welfare League in aid of its funds, was held at the home of Mrs. H. N. Maddox in Princes Street, Northeote. Bridge was played in three rooms. 18 tables being occupied, while donations were received representing two moie tables.- The lounge was decorated with rhododendrons and the adjoining rooms with Iceland poppies and large bowls of other spring flowers. T he guests, a num'ber of whom came from Auckland, were received by the president, Mrs. R. Martin (Mayoress of Northeote), who wore a frock of red satin beaute, and hat to tone, and by Mrs. Maddox, wearing na\y blue georgette, with lace and georgette coatee, and navy blue and white hat. Others present included :—Mesdaines John Cox, Hughes-Jones, Ernest Hawkes, P. Lichtenstein, B. I* niton. N. Keid (Uamaru), A. Macdonald, Coltman, W. Thomas, Dixon. Coutts, Pitcathley, I. I. Cox. Mays, Lockie, McPhee, Neilson, Wallace, Feat li erst one, Cliinnery, A. W. Smith, H Cadness, Hanna (2), C. Blomfield," Jordan, ■\dams, A. W. Christmas, Poison, G. D. O'Learv, J. W. Let-bbridge, N. Davidson, A Hum, Miller, Art hur, Barrott, Biake, Taylor, Horsman, Eades, J. Major, Haullain, Raven, Oldfield, Ivo Adams, Misses C. Wells, B. Endean, J. Craig, D. Clark, Gillord (2). M. Brown, Sutton (Oamaru), Lockie, Paterson, M. Laurie, A. Eades, Simcox, Burrows, Wilma Barr and Mclnnis. Miss C. Wells, of Remuera, won the first prize, and Mrs. Cummings the prize for the hidden number.
