MR. "WIZARD" SMITH.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR VISIT. ATTEMPT ON SPEED RECORDS. SYDNEY, Sept. 21. Mr. 11. J. Butcher, chairman of the competitions committee of the Auckland Automobile Association, is visiting Sydney for the purpose of making final arrangements for Mr. Norman ("Wizard") Smith's attempt on the speed record on the Ninety-Mile Beach, New Zealand. He is procuring extra timing switches to enable sectional times to be taken. Mr. Smith intends not only to attack the mile and kilometre records, but also the five and ten miles records. He stated to-clay that he is confident of achieving a speed of 250 miles an hour.
