FAILURES OF BANKS.

AMERICA'S LARGE TOTAL. NEARLY 1000 IN NINE MONTHS. (Received September '2), 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Sept. 23. The directors of the Fedoral Reserve Bank announce that in August there were 154 bank failures in the Unitod States, of which 26 were national institutions. The total deposits were 226,000,000 dollars (about £45,200,000). In the first nine months of this year 932 banks have failed, with deposits totalling 698,000,000 dollars (about £139,600,000).
