POLICE PARTY ACTIVE. TREATING SOIL WITH SIEVES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. It is reported that the search for clues, in connection with the murder of Edwin John Blakeway at Karerc four weeks ago has been intensified. Constables, working in shifts, have been guarding the scene of the crime during the past 60 hours. The ground has been cleared of grass between the roadway and the fence and an area of 14yds. by 10yds. has been laid bare. Upwards of a score of police officials are engaged in sieving the soil and a large tarpaulin was used to cover the area of investigations when work ceased yesterday.
