STATE SERVANTS' PAY.
CONCESSIONS IN BRITAIN. FINANCIAL ADJUSTMENTS. (Received September 23, 7.35 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, Sept. 22. In connection with the Prime Minister s announcement in Parliament yesterday of the Government's decision to limit to not more than 10 per cent, the cuts in the pay of teachers, the police and the lower ranks of the three defence services, it is understood that the cost of these concessions will be financed out of additional savings and, if necessary, the Budget surplus. Before sanctioning the concessions the Government satisfied itself that the Budget position would not be jeopardised.
