WRECK OF VESTRIS.

CLAIMS AGAINST OWNERS. NO LIMIT TO LIABILITY. NEW YORK, Sept. 17. Sir. Justice Goddard, of the New York Federal Court, to-day refused to allow a limitation of liability of the Liverpool, Brazil and River Plate Navigation Company, Limited, and Lamport and Holt, Limited, owners of the steamer Vestris, wjrich sank in November, 1928, with large loss of life. The decision affects 600 claimants, who have brought suits claiming altogether £1,000,000. The owners had sought to limit their liability to £IB,OOO, the value of tiie cargo sunk. The Vestris sank in a storm on November 12, 1928, off Virginia, with the loss of more than 100 lives. The owners and the captain were both held to blame. The c vessel was not fit for tho voyage to the Barbadoes when she left New York. She had been leaking since she ran into a gale on November 10, when she left New York.
