FEDERAL TARIFF.
♦ REVIEW OF DUTIES URGED. DANGER OF HIGH RATES. (Received September 19, 12.45 a.m.) CANBERRA, Sept. 13. The Tariff Board in its annual report to the Federal Parliament recommends a systematic review of the customs tariff, in order to ascertain to what extent national industry can be resuscitated by lower duties on essential plant and material. Reference is made to the danger of excessive duties, which are seriously disrupting trade.
