NORTH SHORE RUGBY.

ANNUAL LADI ES ' NIGHT. The' annual ladies' night, held under the auspices of the Northeote and Birkenhead Rugby Union Football Club, took place in the Palais Theatre, Northeote, on Thursday. The hall was artistically decorated with streamers in the club colours, flags and ferns. The visitors were welcomed by the president, Mr. R. B. Brown, and Mr. V. N. Hubble, vice-president, presided over the gathering. An enjoyable programme was presented, comprising songs by Miss McCullough, Mr. Frank Sutherland, Mr. E. Mitchell and Master Ivan Dunn; humour by Mr. Rex Yates and Mr. J. Finlayson; and instrumental items by Ingall's Hawaiian Orchestra. The accompaniste was Mrs. A. J. Hurley. The Merrymakers' Orchestra provided popular dance music. Daring the evening presentations were made to Mrs. E. J. Nicholson in recognition of her services to the club and her hospitality to the referees in the Saturday matches, and to Master Gray Parrish, who received the cup donated by Mh N. E. Heath, for the most improved, player in the third grade.
