CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.
ST. MATTHEW'S SERVICES. The 78th anniversary of St. Matthew 8 Church, the second oldest church in Auckland, will be celebrated to-morrow anfl on Monday. Early- in its history the parish of St. Matthew's received a substantial legacy, which was steadily augmented by subscriptions,; and early in the present century the fine stone church at the corner of Wellesley and Hobson Streets was erected. The preacher at the special service tomorrow morning will be Archdeacon MacMurray, while the evening service will hj« conducted by the vicar, Canon Grant Cowen. The Hallelujah Chorus will ba sung at the conclusion of evensong. A social gathering will be held in the pans# hall oo Monday evening*
