SERIES OF CHARGES.
CITY PREMISES ENTERED. COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE. A long list of charges, which includecT breaking and entering, theft and damaging properties, was preferred against George James Beere, aged 33, blacksmith, before Messrs. 11. T. King and L. S. Rickerby, J.P.'s, in the Police Court yesterday. The summary charges comprised four counts of stealing goods of a total value of £3 15s, three counts of damaging properties to the extent of £3 15s, and a charge of vagrancy. Accused was also charged with breaking and entering two city premises and stealing goods valued at £B, and attempting to break and enter two other piemises with intent to commit crimes. Accused admitted the summary charges, sentence being deferred. The premises alleged to have been entered were those of Joseph Nathan and Company, Limited, and the Millar West Australia Hardwoods Company, Limited, The Strand, Parnell, A. and G. Price, Limited, and J. J. Craig, Limited. Evidence that the premises had been locked and had later been found to have been entered was given by representatives of the four firms. Constable J. T. Chalcraft said he had arrested accused on a charge of vagrancy and had found articles which had since heen identified as stolen ones among his effects. Accused first stated he hnd found the goods, but subsequently showed witness a warehouse from where he had got the articles. Accused later made a statement regarding offences which Beerc said he had committed. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence
