OFFENCES BY YOUNG MAN. CAUGHT TAKING POSTS. f UY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Thursday, A young man, Harold Charles Martin, pleaded guilty before justices at Stratford yesterday to 11 charges of breaking, entering and theft, 10 of theft and one of making a false document. The dates of the offences went back to the end of 1926, the date of the latest charge being August 15 last. The offences took place at Stratford and Eltham, and the value of (he goods concerned was stated at about £2OO. The goods included two fur coats, crystal ware, Indies' and gentlemen's wristlet watches, half a dozen fish knives and forks, gramophone records, ladies' underclothing, cutleiv, a bicycle, 51b. of tobacco, 101 b. of sugar and 51b. ol tea. In each case a statement to the police was produced in which accused admitted the offences. Constable Margraves said ho saw accused m the act of removing posts from a railway truck, lie dropped tho wood, ran away, and got on his bicycle. Witness followed on a bicycle and was close behind him when he. arrived at his home. When asked to return to tho station yard accused admitted having been caught in the act of removing posts. Martin pleaded guilty to all charges and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
