POLICE COURT NEWS.
YOUTH SENT TO BORSTAL. FATHER SUPPORTS DETENTION. A labourer. Joseph Robin Silva, aged .19. was committed to the Waikeria Borstal Home for a period not exceeding two years when he. appeared in the Police Court yesterday charged with stealing a bicycle valued at £5. the prop rty of James Brown, on .August 29. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said the father of the accused had stated that Silva would not work and was a disturbing clement in his home. Silva's father appeared in Court and said his son was a source of trouble and it would be in his interests to detain him for a period. A carpenter, Drummond Sinclair Haswell (Mr. Inder), aged 45, was remanded until to-day on a charge of being intoxicated when in charge of a motor-lorry in Svmonds Street on September 14. Bail of £SO was granted.
