APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN. WATER FROM ONEHUNCA. I __ I The former chairman of the Mount | Roskill Road Board, Mr. C. M. MeJ Cullough, who forfeited his seat on the | board as the result of voting on a proj posal to instal a telephone in his house I and was returned bv a large majority at the by-election held last Saturday, was reappointed chairman by the board at its meeting last evening. There was no other nomination for the position. " I hope we will bury the hatchet- and carry on the business of the district now," said Mr. W. Thomas, who proposed Mr. McCullough. ( A number of conditions relating to (he proposed water supply for the Mount Roskill district were laid down by the board when it was decided to ask the Onehunga Borough Council, from which it is proposed to obtain the supply, to agree to a number of provisions. The board decided that it should be a condition that tho Onehunga Council should erect a reservoir 40ft. above that of tho One Tree Hill Borough Council with a capacity of not less than 500.000 gallons; that an eight-inch main should be laid from the reservoir to tho point of delivery; that provision should be mado for regular tests of the water by the Health Department or tho Government analyst; that the agreement should be for a period of 10£ years; and that if tho Onehunga Council did , tint, supply tho required quantity up to .300.000.000 gallons a year the board should have the right to rescind the agreement. Mr. S. I. Goodall said that, the decision did not bind Hio board to take water from the Onehunga Council, the mot ion merely laying down the conditions under which an agreement could lie contracted.
