Thunderous applause greeted Viscount Cecil's declaration at, the Assembly of the League of Nations, that "No Government, least of all the British Government, can tolerate for a moment the proposal to abandon the forthcoming Disarmament Conference." Lord Cecil strongly supported Signor Grandi's proposal for an armaments truce.
