NOTICE ON STEAMER.

Tlio general depression has been the causo of many men stowing away on vessels with tho hopo that better prospects may bo found in another country. Stowing away, however, has been made very difficult owing to the thorough search which is always made on board a vessel shortly before sho leaves port for overseas. As a warning to intending stowaways who might have desired to conceal themselves on board tho Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui, which left Auckland for London last evening, the following notice was displayed on the gangway during tho day:—"Stowaways will be landed at Panama and will be returned to New Zealand and prosecuted."
