The Otago Rugby representatives defeated Manawhenua by 18 points to 11 111 a last, open game to-day. The weather was delightful and the ground was »«» porfwl order. It w«b generally conceded that the better team won, but it was admitted tliat Manawhenua was unlucky in not being given another try". • . The Otago team started off at a great rate and ran all over Manawhenua during the first part, the speed of the backs suggesting that ' they would run up a cricket score. It was not long before the visitors had 13 points 011. Manawhenua then Bettlea to work and after even play had the upper hahd for the : rest of the spell, tho half-trine scoro being 13-3. A try to each early in the second spell left tho margin unchanged, but the visitors wero slowing up andl tin cling it increasingly difficult to keep Manawhenua out. A few minutes before tune L<? Warren sent a long pass infield to Johnston and the movement was rounded off by Graham scoring near the posts. Tho kick failed. Otago retaliated. Proctor rating over at tho corner. Just, before time Graham a high pass, which was taken by Le Qitesfie 111 a flying leap and be scored brilliantly near the posts Fletcher converted, making the final scores:—Otago, 18: Manawhenua. 11. Henry (Manawhenua) and Miller (Otago) had to leave tho field owing to injuries.

The touring Maori team defeated Marlborough by ft points to 0 on a wet field today. The Maoris held a slight.- advantage in the first spell, which ended three points each. Hohuia won the game for the Maoris by slipping round the scrum end scoring an unconverted try.
