IN WESTMINSTER ABBEY.
SIR A. GODLEY HONOURED.
NEW ZEALAND REMEMBERED.
A stall in the chapel of the Order of the Bath, the Henry VII. Chapel in Westminster Abbey, has been allotted to General Sir Alexander Godley, Governor of Gibraltar. In these stalls the banners are hung and the coats of- arms are placed of Knights Grand Cross of the Order. A photograph of Sir Alexander's coat of arms shows that he chose as one of his supporters a New Zealand infantry soldier, and in a private letter he states that he did so to indicate how much he attributed the good fortune and success which have attended his military career to his close connection with the New Zealand Army.
It has been arranged that Sir Alexander's banner is to - hang in the stall next to that of "Lord Kilbracken, the head of his family, and a son of Mr. John Robert Godley, of Christchurch.
The motto chosen to accompany the coat of arms is Sans Dieu Rien—-"With-out God, Nothing."
