N OTA BILE: ANNIVERSARIES.
THIRTY YEARS IN HIERARCHY.
Two notable anniversaries were celebrated by Archbishop Kelly, of Sydney, recently. Thirty years ago he was consecrated coadjutor Roman Catholic archbishop of Sydney. The cere-mony-took place in Rome on August 15, 1901. For the previous 10 years Dr. Kelly had been rector of the Irish College there. Last Sunday bo completed his 20th year as Roman Catholic archbishop of Sydney, having succeeded the late Cardinal Moran on August 16, 1911. There have been four occupants of the Metropolitan See of Sydney since, its establishment in 1835. Archbishop Po]ding was a Mnv months over 82 years when ho died in 1877, Cardinal Moran lived to within a month of his 81st birthday, and Archbishop Kelly is now approaching his 82nd year, Early ne:|;t year Archbishop Kelly will sail for Ireland to represent New South "Wales at the 31st International Eucharistic Congres.s at Dublin in June. It will be his second trip abroad in two years. Shortly aftyn his return from Dublin next year he will celebrate the diamond jubilee of hid ordination to the priesthood, a rare achievement for a member of the hierarchy in the history of the Church in Australia. Only two other prelates in the British Empire, Archbishop Redwood, of Wellington, and Dr. O'Connor (Bishop of Avmidalc), are older than Archbishop Kelly,
